Fuji is the Bahamas-flagged half of Mitsui Ocean Cruises, so every cruise includes a foreign port: 49 listed Japan calls from Naha (14) and Ishigaki (7) to Yokohama, Tokyo, Sakaiminato and Toba, with Busan, Yeosu and Sokcho in Korea between them.

Three things Mitsui Ocean Fuji passengers should know

Booking from outside Japan

The main site is Japanese-only. The operator’s booking guide names agents abroad: Distinct Cruises International for the USA and Canada, Cruise Traveller in Australia, Cruise World in New Zealand, Luxe Travel in Taiwan and Miramar Express in Hong Kong.

Korea first, then immigration

Because every cruise touches Korea, the first Japanese port afterwards is a face-to-face immigration call for everyone aboard. The ship × port pages mark which calls those are.

Fuji or Sakura?

Same size, same suites, different flags: Fuji (Bahamas) must call abroad, Sakura (Japan) can run short Japan-only hops. Pick by whether you want the foreign port.

Quick answers

Questions Mitsui Ocean Fuji passengers ask

Can non-Japanese guests sail on Mitsui Ocean Fuji?

Yes, through agents the operator names for each market: Distinct Cruises International (USA and Canada, English site, US-dollar fares), Cruise Traveller (Australia), Cruise World (New Zealand), Luxe Travel (Taiwan) and Miramar Express (Hong Kong). Japanese is the working language on board, with English support.

Where does Mitsui Ocean Fuji dock in Naha?

All 14 listed Naha calls use Tomari Wharf No.8 (Naha Cruise Terminal), the berth nearest town.

Why does every Fuji cruise include a foreign port?

She is registered in the Bahamas, and a foreign-flagged ship may not carry passengers between Japanese ports alone, so each itinerary touches Busan, Yeosu, Sokcho or another port abroad. Her sister Sakura is Japan-flagged and can sail Japan-only.
