Busan Cruise Port

Only for a look around the berth. Our shortest timed plan, "The Yeongdo close-in", runs ~3h door to door, so it needs a 5-hour call (off the ship 30 minutes after arrival, back at the gangway an hour before all-aboard). The half-day is "The Nampo classic" (~5h door to door), which needs a 7-hour call or longer (off the ship 30 minutes after arrival, back at the gangway an hour before all-aboard) — every transit leg counted from the berth, with an escape route if you run late. From the International Passenger Terminal (North Port): the elevated walkway, ~10–15 min on the flat From the Yeongdo cruise terminal: taxi (~20 min to the Busan Station area), or walk ~15 min to Dongsam Samgeori for bus 101 or 88. Japanese IC cards do not work. Runs every ~5 min. For Gamcheon Culture Village, stay on to Toseong and take the village bus up the hill — it is a steep climb otherwise. City bus 5-1 runs from the North Port terminal to Jagalchi every 15 min (₩1,550 by card). The national cruise office lists a free tourist shuttle for cruise calls, but its route and schedule are not published; do not rely on it.

International itineraries include a foreign port, and Busan is the natural one — close, big, and worth it. Treat it as a feature: many passengers rank their Korean day among the cruise’s best.

Partly. From the International Passenger Terminal a covered deck with a moving walkway reaches Busan Station in 10–15 minutes (metro Line 1, KTX), and city bus 5-1 leaves the terminal for Jagalchi and BIFF Square every 15 minutes. The markets, Gamcheon and the east coast still need the metro, a bus or a taxi. Ships at the Yeongdo terminal have no metro nearby.

Cards work broadly in Busan, and markets increasingly take them too; a small amount of won for street food and small stalls makes the day smoother. Busan Bank has an exchange desk on 2F of the International Passenger Terminal (bring your passport; hours vary with ship schedules). None is listed at the Yeongdo terminal.

No K-ETA until 31 December 2026 with a US, UK, Canadian or Australian passport, or another of the temporarily exempt nationalities (check yours on the official K-ETA site). Anyone 17 or under or 65 or over is always exempt. Without a K-ETA you file an arrival card: the free e-Arrival Card online within 3 days before arrival, or the paper form. The temporary exemption runs to 31 December 2026; no extension into 2027 had been announced by 18 October 2026, so recheck for 2027 calls. Follow your cruise line’s landing instructions.
