Why Haedong Yonggungsa temple is famous

Almost every Korean Buddhist temple is in the mountains. Yonggungsa is on the rocks at the sea, founded in 1376, destroyed in the Japanese invasions and rebuilt in the 1930s. The 108 steps down to it are counted for the 108 afflictions of Buddhist teaching.
