Our shortest timed plan, "The walkable port", runs ~2.75h door to door, so it needs a 5-hour call (off the ship 30 minutes after arrival, back at the gangway an hour before all-aboard). The half-day is "Fuji in the frame" (~5h door to door), which needs a 7-hour call or longer (off the ship 30 minutes after arrival, back at the gangway an hour before all-aboard) — every transit leg counted from the berth, with an escape route if you run late. The scenic water bus to Miho also runs: from the Hinode landing by Dream Plaza hourly 9:55–15:55, about 35–40 min out via Ejiri and 15 min back; last boat from Miho 16:35. ¥1,000 per leg, cash only on board — lovely, no longer the cheap option.

The last decade has run roughly 5–6 days earlier than those normals, and the date wanders by a week or more each year. Maples at the nearest JMA observation tree turn around Dec 5 by the 1991–2020 normals — and recent years have run later. Shimizu sits on the Tokai coast, which averages 3.5 typhoon approaches a year (JMA 1991–2020 normals) — the peak is August to September. On clear days, superbly — but the mountain shows itself clearly only about 3–4 days in 10, and mornings are most reliable. Check early from the deck; if it hides, the fish market, Miho pines and Sunpu history still make a full day.

Yes — from Hinode Pier the Dream Plaza waterfront is about 10 minutes on foot and the Kashi-no-Ichi fish market 20–25 (or walk 10 minutes to Dream Plaza and take its free shuttle bus to JR Shimizu Station, beside the market; it runs from mid-morning). One caveat: on crowded days ships may berth at Okitsu instead, a container berth where the shuttle is mandatory. Check your daily program.

A small ferry across the bay from the Hinode landing by Dream Plaza, about 10 minutes on foot from the ship. Boats leave hourly from 9:55 to 15:55: ¥1,000 a leg, about 25 minutes out (it calls at Ejiri first) and 15 back on the direct leg, then a flat 20-minute walk to the pine grove and beach. The Miho pier sells tickets on board, cash only; the last boat back leaves Miho at 16:35.
