The cruise quay is in the New Port (Shinko) district on the Painuhama reclaimed island, east of the town centre: a 420 m berth with no terminal building beyond toilets and temporary immigration. No. Swimming is prohibited because the currents are strong and the bay is used for black pearl cultivation. Glass-bottom boats run from the beach instead, and they are the intended way to see the water. For swimming, the island’s other beaches — Sukuji and Yonehara among them — are the alternatives.
