Getting into town: ① Walk to Tokyo International Cruise Terminal station (about eight minutes) ② Yurikamome line to Shimbashi — about 20 min (contactless credit cards accepted, ¥820 daily cap)

Only for a look around the berth. Our shortest timed plan, "The terminal island", runs ~2.5h door to door, so it needs a 4.5-hour call (off the ship 30 minutes after arrival, back at the gangway an hour before all-aboard). The half-day is "The Asakusa classic" (~5.5h door to door), which needs a 7.5-hour call or longer (off the ship 30 minutes after arrival, back at the gangway an hour before all-aboard) — every transit leg counted from the berth, with an escape route if you run late. ① Toei bus stop Harumi Futo, 1 min from the terminal ② Bus 都05-1 to Ginza 4-chome (~20 min) or Tokyo Station Marunouchi South (~30 min) On many calls a free shuttle runs to Tokyo Station (Kajibashi car park), ~30 min — the operator posts each call’s notice a few days to a week ahead.

Maples at the nearest JMA observation tree turn around Nov 28 by the 1991–2020 normals — and recent years have run later. Tokyo sits on the Kanto coast, which averages 3.3 typhoon approaches a year (JMA 1991–2020 normals) — the peak is August to September. Two nights minimum before embarkation — one for jet lag, one for the city — and ideally more after. The cruise terminal sits on the Odaiba waterfront with rail connections into the center.

Sampling five districts in a day. Tokyo rewards depth: pick Asakusa or Shibuya, walk it properly, eat properly, and save the rest for the trip you will inevitably plan on the flight home.
