Smaller ships use Showa Wharf, right beside the fish market and about 30 minutes on foot from the station where the yokai road begins — most calls run a shuttle. The largest ships, including Diamond Princess, berth at Sakai Yumeminato Terminal about 6km south: not walkable, with a shuttle to the station (paid on some lines, Princess included) or a ~15-minute taxi. Either way, once you are at the station the whole town is within ten minutes on foot.

The town’s main event needs no tour, just the ride in: from Sakaiminato Station the Mizuki Shigeru Road of bronze yokai statues runs 800 metres to the museum, flat the whole way. Add a crab lunch at the fish market — beside the near berth, a short taxi from the road — and you have an honest, odd, delightful port day for very little.
