Ranked Japan’s best garden for 23 consecutive years — living landscapes framed like paintings behind glass. About 50 minutes by car: by taxi (about ¥11,400 each way, estimate), by train to Yasugi and the museum’s free shuttle, or on the 5-hour semi-private tour with Matsue Castle. Adults ¥2,500; 9:00–17:00 Oct–Mar. The new building is shut 16–17 Nov 2026; the garden stays open.

Why Adachi Museum of Art gardens is famous
Adachi is a museum whose garden is the exhibit: 165,000 square metres, composed so that each window frames it as a hanging scroll, and named the best garden in Japan every year since 2003 by an American specialist journal. Gardeners work on it daily before opening. You are not allowed to walk in it.
