The same hillside holds the Keelung Midsummer Ghost Festival Museum, which explains the city's Zhongyuan festival — the oldest and largest ghost month ceremony in Taiwan, running since 1855 as a deliberate replacement for lethal fighting between two immigrant communities.

About fifteen minutes uphill from the berths, and it is a real hill in Keelung's humidity. Taking a taxi up and walking down is the sensible order, especially in summer.
