Neon canyons, the Glico runner, takoyaki smoke — Osaka after dark is a different country from genteel Kobe, and it is about an hour away by train. An evening there only works on a call that sails late or stays overnight.

Why Osaka evening: Dotonbori is famous
Dotonbori has been Osaka's entertainment canal since a merchant cut it in 1615. The neon, the mechanical crab and the running Glico man are the visual shorthand for Osaka itself. From the ship it is about an hour each way (Port Liner, then 45 minutes on the Hanshin line to Osaka-Namba), so an evening there only works on a late or overnight call.
Where the 5 hr goes
Counted from the moment you step off the gangway, about 30 minutes after the ship arrives. The hour before all-aboard is not in this bar; it is already set aside.
60 minutes each way is the measured figure for port liner and hanshin to osaka-namba, about 60 min each way (¥630), then a short walk, not the optimistic one. If your ship is late, cut the 3 hr in the middle. Never cut the hour at the end.
