The story

Why Onnenai boardwalk is famous

A wooden boardwalk running out into the marsh itself, rather than looking at it from a hill, with alder swamp and sphagnum bog either side. The visitor centre at the start explains what you are standing on: peat several metres deep, laid down over thousands of years.
