Why Saito Family Villa is famous

The 1918 villa of the Saito family, one of Niigata's great merchant houses, built as a garden viewed from inside: the rooms are arranged so the slope, the pond and the pines compose differently from each seat. It is a designated Place of Scenic Beauty and is almost always quiet.
