Reed beds and tidal flats with hooded cranes in winter, reached by a boardwalk to the Yongsan observatory, with Korea’s first National Garden next door. ₩10,000 each. Both close on the last Monday of the month, and the Skycube between them does not run on Mondays. Holland America counts about 8 km of walking on its tour.
- 5 hr door to door means a 2–3 hour stop ashore cannot hold it. Pick something closer instead.
- It is a view, so it is weather. Check the morning sky before you commit the hours.
Why Suncheon Bay wetland is famous
Suncheon Bay is a coastal wetland of reed beds and tidal flats, 40 km west of Yeosu, where hooded cranes winter. A boardwalk and the Mujingyo bridge lead through the reeds to the Yongsan observatory. The Suncheonman National Garden next door was Korea's first national garden; the Skycube, a small automated railway, links the two but does not run on Mondays. Both close on the last Monday of each month. Adult admission is ₩10,000 at each; the official wetland page lists discounts for groups and card payment but no senior rate.
Suncheon Bay wetland and your ship
Both pins on one map, so the distance is a fact rather than a feeling.
Where the 5 hr goes
Counted from the moment you step off the gangway. The hour before all-aboard is not in this bar; it is already set aside.
51 minutes each way is the measured figure for pre-booked car or ship’s tour; about 51 min each way, 39.7 km; taxi around ₩57,500 each way with the out-of-area surcharge, our estimate, not the optimistic one. If your ship is late, cut the 3 hr 18 min in the middle. Never cut the hour at the end.
What to put beside it
Each of these still lands you back aboard with the hour to spare.
