Why we send people here

A 30-minute boat under the cherry trees along the Matsukawa, ¥3,000 while the blossom is out (¥2,000 outside the bloom window), with full bloom normally about 8 April. The 2027 spring season is planned for 20 March – 25 April. No reservations; buy at the Matsukawa Chaya. Not Mondays.

Before you count on it
  • 3 hr 20 min door to door means a 2–3 hour stop ashore cannot hold it. Pick something closer instead.
  • No single published ride covers this one. Budget for a taxi both ways, or fold it into a guided day.
The story

Why Matsukawa cherry-blossom boat is famous

The Matsukawa runs through Toyama Castle Park, and the cherry trees along its banks are the city's spring. The boats take about half an hour from the Matsukawa Chaya in the park, and nothing can be reserved: you buy a ticket on the day. The 2026 season closed early for works after the Noto earthquake; the 2027 spring season is planned for 20 March to 25 April.

Where it is

Matsukawa cherry-blossom boat and your ship

Both pins on one map, so the distance is a fact rather than a feeling.

The arithmetic

Where the 3 hr 20 min goes

Counted from the moment you step off the gangway. The hour before all-aboard is not in this bar; it is already set aside.

Out10 minTrain to Toyama, then 10 min on foot to Toyama Castle Park
There3 hrWhat you came for
Back10 minTo the gangway

10 minutes each way is the measured figure for train to toyama, then 10 min on foot to toyama castle park, not the optimistic one. If your ship is late, cut the 3 hr in the middle. Never cut the hour at the end.
