A two-hour kendo lesson in a real Osaka dojo, in armour, taught in English — the most-reviewed bookable experience at any port on this site.

Families with teenagers and anyone who wants one hands-on piece of Japanese culture rather than another viewpoint.
It is physical — kneeling, standing and striking for two hours — so ask the operator about any mobility limits first. The dojo is by Tenjimbashisuji 6-chome station, not near the port, so allow subway time both ways.
It takes place at one venue, so there is no route to list.
Guide languages: English. Cancellation: For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. Run by Samurai Training Experience KENDO in Osaka.
Our own guides to the stops — so you know what you are booking before you book it.
Booked through Viator (a Tripadvisor company). There is rarely a tour desk at the pier, so book before you sail.
We may earn a small commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. It never decides what we recommend — the “think twice” note above is there on purpose.

About 5 hours. The tour runs 2 hr; add half an hour to get off the ship and keep the hour before all-aboard free. The dojo is in central Osaka by Tenjimbashisuji 6-chome station; add the subway both ways from Tempozan.
