The story

Why Tea Museum Shizuoka is famous

The museum stands at Kanaya, on the edge of the Makinohara plateau, and is run by Shizuoka Prefecture under the name Fujinokuni Tea Museum. Admission is ¥500 and free for anyone 70 or over, and the tea room serves Shizuoka tea from 9:30 to 16:00. It closes on Tuesdays. Shizuoka's first new-tea auction of the year was held on 18 April in 2025. A mid-April visit falls at the start of the first flush.

The arithmetic

Where the 2 hr 30 min goes

Counted from the moment you step off the gangway. The hour before all-aboard is not in this bar; it is already set aside.

30 minutes each way is the measured figure for taxi ~30 min each way, 28 km; about ¥10,000 on the meter each way, our estimate, not the optimistic one. If your ship is late, cut the 1 hr 30 min in the middle. Never cut the hour at the end.
