The story

Why Mount Tengu at dusk is famous

The 532-metre hill behind the town, reached by a ropeway that has run since 1959, giving the standard Otaru view: the harbour, the Ishikari bay and the mountains behind. It is counted among Hokkaido's three great night views, and the tengu masks at the top are a local joke about the mountain's name.
