A flat-topped mountain where the Genpei war turned in 1185, with the city and the Inland Sea below. At its foot, Shikoku Mura holds thirty-odd relocated farmhouses and a vine bridge you are allowed to cross.

The story

Why Yashima and Shikoku Mura is famous

Yashima is a flat-topped plateau over the sea where the Genji and Heike fought in 1185, one of the decisive battles of that war. Shikoku Mura at its foot is an open-air museum of relocated vernacular buildings, including a rare 18th-century rural kabuki stage.
