Seodae-hoe is raw sole dressed with makgeolli vinegar and mixed into rice, one of Yeosu’s official ten tastes. At the Gyodong fish market you buy downstairs and eat upstairs for a table charge; 06:00–21:00, closed the second and fourth Tuesdays, cards taken. Samhakjip, near Yi Sun-sin Square, serves it for ₩16,000.
- Short enough to be certain of: 2 hr door to door, so even a tender day works.
- It is not only a photo stop: crab that steals rice, sole in vinegar, and a street of carts that opens after you sail.
- Closed the second and fourth Tuesdays, cards taken. Check the day before you plan around it.
- No single published ride covers this one. Budget for a taxi both ways, or fold it into a guided day.
Why Seodae-hoe at the Gyodong fish market is famous
Crab that steals rice, sole in vinegar, and a street of carts that opens after you sail
Seodae-hoe is raw sole dressed with vinegar made from makgeolli, the milky rice wine, and is eaten mixed into rice. It is one of Yeosu's official ten tastes, with gizzard shad in autumn and grilled oysters and cockle shabu-shabu in winter. The Yeosu Fish Market at Gyodong, beside the coastal ferry terminal, works the Korean way. You buy the fish downstairs and carry it upstairs to be cut and served for a table charge. It opens 06:00 to 21:00 and closes on the second and fourth Tuesdays. In September 2020 a typhoon on a high tide flooded it.
The city publishes a list of ten dishes and calls one of them a rice thief. The rest of the list is a calendar of what the boats bring in, and your call date decides which page you are on.

Gejang in Bongsan-dong or seodae-hoe at Samhakjip is a nine-minute taxi from the berth and fits any call. The pocha street opens at 18:00 from March to October, so it needs a late sailing.
Three places, three different answers
The one the queue agrees on, the one people who live here use instead, and the one nearest your ship. Opening days change; check before you build a day around one.

Both pins on one map, so the distance is a fact rather than a feeling.
Where the 2 hr goes
Counted from the moment you step off the gangway. The hour before all-aboard is not in this bar; it is already set aside.
8 minutes each way is the measured figure for taxi ~8 min, about ₩5,600; 47 min on foot, not the optimistic one. If your ship is late, cut the 1 hr 44 min in the middle. Never cut the hour at the end.
Routes that already include it
Each one is a finished day we have walked and timed, with this stop in it. Read the route rather than assembling it yourself.
What to put beside it
Each of these still lands you back aboard with the hour to spare.
