Boarding at Osanbashi

When to come, what happens to the bags, and what to do with spare time.

When to arriveYour cruise line sets the timeThe terminal publishes no arrival time: your cruise line sets it, and your boarding documents give yours. Asuka Cruise tells passengers on its domestic cruises that check-in usually runs from about two hours to about 90 minutes before departure.
Your luggageNo bag drop at the terminalOsanbashi’s FAQ says the terminal does not accept luggage on passengers’ behalf and has no permanent courier counter. For sending bags ahead, or a courier desk on ship days, it refers you to your cruise line. Japanese lines such as Asuka Cruise offer an advance courier service.
Bags from the airport to the hotelHand in at Haneda by 11:00Yamato’s Haneda counters (Terminals 1, 2 and 3) take bags until 11:00 for delivery from 18:00 the same day to hotels in Yokohama’s Nishi, Naka, Tsurumi, Kanagawa, Hodogaya, Minami and Konan wards, at the standard rate plus a surcharge. Narita’s counters take them until 10:30 (Terminal 3: 09:50) for delivery anywhere in Kanagawa from 18:00 to 21:00.
If you are earlyA free rooftop deck, open all dayThe terminal has cafés, a restaurant and shops (hours vary). The rooftop deck is free and open all day.
Coin lockers55 lockers, ¥400 to ¥80055 coin lockers by cruise deck exit 2 and in the 2F immigration lobby, 9:00 to 21:30: ¥400, ¥600 or ¥800 by height, all 35 cm wide and 67 cm deep, so a cabin bag fits and a big suitcase may not.

Leaving the ship at Osanbashi

The morning, customs, where the bags go, and the ride to Haneda or Narita.

The morningOff by group; free Wi-Fi on 2FThe ship calls passengers off by group, you collect your cases in the terminal, and you are on the pier road. The 2F immigration lobby has free Wi-Fi, a foreign-currency machine (12 currencies, to yen only), a note-to-coin changer and the information desk, 9:00 to 17:30.
CustomsA paper form, not a gateOn a voyage that ends in Japan after a foreign port, Japan Customs requires every arriving passenger to declare their belongings. Its electronic declaration gates are at seven airports and no seaport, so expect the paper form your ship hands out.
Duty-free allowanceOther goods up to ¥200,000Per adult, on Japan Customs’ list: three bottles of alcohol (about 760 ml each), 200 cigarettes, 2 ounces of perfume, other goods up to ¥200,000.
Bags for the dayLockers, or Yamato ¥800 until 19:00The Osanbashi lockers (above) are paid at deposit by cash, credit card, IC card or QR code, per calendar day. Yamato’s Yamashita Park, Chinatown and Kannai counters hold bags for ¥800 a piece until 19:00 the same day.
Airport TA-Q-BINTwo days before the flightYamato’s Airport TA-Q-BIN needs your bags two days before the flight (three from some areas), so it is no help for a flight on disembarkation day.
To Haneda¥800 bus from YCAT, about 30 minBus from YCAT at Yokohama Station, ¥800, about 30 minutes, paid on board by IC or contactless card, no reservation. Keikyu trains from Yokohama Station reach Terminal 3 in about 25 minutes (Terminals 1 and 2: 28).
Taxi to Haneda¥8,800 + tolls from Minato MiraiKanagawa’s pre-booked fixed taxi fare from Nishi ward and the Minato Mirai part of Naka ward to Haneda is ¥8,800 plus tolls (¥10,300 from 22:00 to 05:00).
More from Haneda’s busPre-booked at 10:00 and 11:05Keikyu Bus also runs pre-booked buses to Haneda from Shin-Kenchomae, one of the two airport-bus stops nearest the pier: weekdays at 10:00 and 11:05, reaching Terminal 3 at 10:55 and 11:55. Seats are booked from a month ahead until the day before.
To Narita¥4,000 bus from YCAT, about 100 minLimousine bus from YCAT, ¥4,000, about 100 minutes; book online from a month ahead, or take a seat still free five minutes before departure. Before the flightBook once your time is setWe do not print an earliest flight. The line, not the arrival time, decides when your group gets off, so book the flight once you know your disembarkation time. With the bags in a locker until 21:30 or at a Yamato counter until 19:00, the rooftop deck, Yamashita Park and Chinatown are all on foot.

How do I get from Haneda Airport to Osanbashi cruise terminal?

Keikyu Bus runs from Haneda to Yamashita Park and Shin-Kenchomae for ¥1,000, the stops nearest the Osanbashi pier road; on the weekday timetable it takes about 40 minutes from Terminal 3, with departures from 08:40 to 19:10, and not every bus takes that route. Or take the ¥800 bus to YCAT at Yokohama Station (about 30 minutes) and the Minatomirai Line to Nihon-odori, about 5 minutes on foot from the terminal. Keikyu trains take about 25 minutes from Terminal 3 to Yokohama Station.

How do I get from Narita Airport to Osanbashi?

The limousine bus to YCAT at Yokohama Station costs ¥4,000 and takes about 100 minutes; book from a month ahead. The last bus leaves Narita Terminal 1 at 21:55. The Narita Express to Yokohama Station is ¥4,480. From Yokohama Station, the Minatomirai Line reaches Nihon-odori in about 5 minutes (¥230), about 5 minutes on foot from Osanbashi.

What is the nearest station to Osanbashi cruise terminal?

Nihon-odori on the Minatomirai Line, about 5 minutes on foot from exits 3 or 4. City bus 26 and the Bayside Blue bus stop at Osanbashi-iriguchi, 3 minutes from the terminal.
